Braintree made the long two hundred and fifty mile trip to the English Riviera to face Torquay United away for the first time. It turned out to be a journey well worth taking as the Iron celebrated St Patricks day by doing the double over Torquay and hammering them in the process 5-1, the heaviest home defeat inflicted on Torquay for twenty years.
